First Telescope - What you have to know
Why Humankind has always been fascinated by the night sky?
Maybe Humankind has always saw a higher intelligence in the presence and in the movements of the Sun, Moon, Planets and Stars, a superior will moving space and time. This was probably the mystic beginning of the ancient astronomy.
Probably this ancestral memory arouse the interest of kids (but not only) in starry nights, leading them to the fatal question: “Dad, will you buy a telescope for me?”
I wrote this link to help you if you are one of this parents, or if you were one of the children whose parents, years ago, said: “No! I’ll never buy a telescope for you!” and at least you wont to satisfy the old wish.
The enchanting beauty of the starry night is quite nothing if compared with the multitude of objects invisible to the unaided eye and well visible with a telescope, but I invite you to read carefully my advices, before you enjoy.
Going in a telescope store with no idea of what you want is dangerous.
More... if you have knowledge you can buy online or you can buy a discount telescope saving money.
There are a lot of possible choices, about Cassegrain, Newtonian or Refractor telescope, about telescope mount, about computerized telescope and so on, ...
But, first of all, some questions are crucial:
What you know?
Where you live?
What you want to see?
How much money do you want to spend?
Does exists a good kids telescope?
And some other important questions.
I’m a mathematic, a statistic, a software engineer and an astronomy lover and here I wrote some easy sections to help you in your choose.
I want to avoid that you throw your money out of the window.
I invite you to start from the first chapter (very relevant to avoid future disappointment).
Hubble telescope that is... what you can (perhaps) see and what you can never see.
Stars wheel that is... first of all the knowledge.
Telescope mount that is... computerized, motorized, altazimutal, equatorial?
The telescope that is... what type and how big?
Telescope cost that is... how much and in which manner?
And something more...
